Our Aims and Objectives

Mazehill Nursery and Pre-School aims to offer a safe, stimulating and caring environment for your child to develop and learn. Under the supervision of highly qualified staff, children will be encouraged to learn through play and develop their independence and social skills.

From baby's early developmental years through to preparation for beginning school, Mazehill Nursery will provide the maximum care and education for each individual child. Each day will be carefully planned to involve elements of challenge, imagination and adventure. This will include painting, baking, music and movement, stories, construction toys and both indoor and outdoor play. Pre-reading, literacy and numeracy skills will be developed in association with the Early Learning Goals in preparation for full time education.

There will be a continual assessment of each child's development and behaviour from nursery to pre-school. Report books will be available to parents at all times and can be taken home regularly for parents' perusal. We are always happy to spend time with parents / carers and to discuss each child's progress.

The nursery ensures the five outcomes as stipulated by the governing body Ofsted are met and we pride ourselves in continually reassessing and developing these practices to a very high standard. The five outcomes are 'Being Healthy', 'Staying Safe', 'Enjoying and Achieving', 'Making a Positive Contribution', and 'Economic Well Being'. All our 6 rooms contribute to our ongoing evidence files which also include various photographs of the children participating in activities.

Equal Opportunities and Inclusion

Mazehill Nursery aims to encourage equal opportunities for all, to provide non-stereotyped play as well as multi-cultural activities. All children will be treated with equal respect and their specific needs met with regard to religion, racial origin, cultural and linguistic back- ground as well as gender and disability. Our activities and the use of play equipment offer children the opportunity to develop in an environment free from prejudice and discrimination.

We respect all children and aim to recognise, value and encourage their individuality and their potential.

We recognise the wide range of special needs of children and families and we will seek to play a part in meeting those needs. The nursery has an appointed Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
